The ALS Association, Greater New York Chapter is a co-sponsor with the Bronx VA Medical Center of an ALS Association Certified Treatment Center of Excellance. Located at 130 West Kingsbridge Road, Bronx, NY 10468. The Bronx VA Medical Center brings quality care to veterans in the Bronx. Geared toward helping patients live more productively and independently, the VA Medical Center provides a coordinated program of medical treatment, rehabilitation techniques and psychological support in a warm and compassionate environment. Comprehensive assessments, diagnostic and follow-up testing, education and treatment are individualized for each patient.

Dr. Marinella Galea, Chief of Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders, Director of the ALS Clinic, Co-Director of MS Regional Center at The James J. Peters VAMC. She is also Assistant Professor, Icahn School of Medical at Mount Sinai, Dept. of Rehabilitation and Human Performance, Assistant Professor, Columbia University, School of Medicine, Dept. of Medicine. She heads the multidisciplinary treatment team that includes: Neurology, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Social Work, Nutrition/Dietitian and a Palliative Care team.

Jinsy A. Andrews, MD, MSc, FAAN Co-Director of MS Regional Center at The James J. Peters VAMC and Associate Professor of Neurology Mount Sinai Hospital

Hours and Appointments

The James J. Peters VA Medical Center's ALS Program sees patients on Mondays by appointment only. Contact Clinics Coordinator Ernest Acheampong, RN (718) 584-9000 ext. 5405/538. The Center is readily accessible to patients in wheelchairs.
